★ EUROPE'S EDGE
TokenFloor · GPU rent vs. buy
Monthly TCO of owning a card — capex, power, cooling, rack, sysadmin — against the cheapest live cloud rent for the same chip.
🇪🇺 EU sovereign providers
Scaleway (🇫🇷), OVHcloud (🇫🇷), IONOS Cloud (🇩🇪). All EU-owned, EU-headquartered, GDPR + NIS2 compliant. Not subject to the US CLOUD Act — an essential property for German data-protection requirements and regulated workloads.
What to know
- EU prices typically include VAT (19-23%); business buyers can reclaim.
- Egress fees: OVH unlimited, IONOS included up to instance cap; hyperscalers charge ~€0.09/GB.
- Q1 2026 price uplifts at OVH (+25%) and Exoscale (+74%) — trackable below.
- For OSS model serving on Nvidia, Together AI dedicated endpoints rent H100/H200 from $1.49/h.
Sovereignty ≠ data residency
A Frankfurt data centre owned by a US parent does not provide legal EU sovereignty. The US CLOUD Act lets federal agencies compel US-headquartered providers to hand over data stored anywhere. Only EU-owned providers offer this property.
